The
Agility Club of Indianapolis (ACI)
is an AKC-chartered club, approved to offer AKC licensed agility
trials and other AKC performance events. Founded in 2004, the club
is made up of agility enthusiasts from the Central Indiana area.
The club’s purpose
is to
- promote the sport
of agility
- offer training and
educational opportunities
- offer AKC-licensed
agility trials
- offer support for
each other at whatever level we are enjoying the game of agility
Before ACI, Indiana
had been described as the black hole of agility, surrounded
as we are by states whose agility legacy is a lot longer than our
own. Competitors from surrounding states considered Indiana the
black hole as they drove through in order to get to agility trials
in Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and Kentucky. In the past, those of
us in Indiana who wanted to compete in agility trials had to drive
to neighboring states in order to do so.
The Agility
Club of Indianapolis hopes to fill the black
hole by providing trialing, training, support and social opportunities
close to home. Our members range from experienced competitors with
multiple MACH (Master Agility Champion) dogs, to beginners who are
training their first agility dog. We currently offer two AKC-licensed
agility trials each year. (See our events
calendar.) We have club meetings at least six times a year. Meeting
days vary. Two of our meetings convene immediately after our trials.
We often have meetings at Pawsitive Partners Dog Training Center,
with pitch-in meals and open floor training.
The Agility Club of Indianapolis
is growing. We will continue to offer two agility trials annually,
and are exploring opportunities to host AKC Rally and Obedience
events.
We
welcome you and your canine partner to join us!
